Investing in Quality Aged Care, Today and Into the Future

Staying true to our purpose – delivering excellence in aged care and lifestyle for older people in Sunraysia – as we prepare for the strengthened aged care standards

As the aged care sector adapts to sweeping reforms, Princes Court is actively preparing to meet the new Aged Care Quality Standards, set to come into effect on 1 November 2025 under the new Aged Care Act 2024.

Some key highlights:

  • The new Act places older Australians’ rights at its centre, and introduces strengthened standards focused on dignity, safety, personcentred care and clinical excellence.
  • The seven revised Quality Standards map to what older people expect: from choice and respect (Standard 1) to enriched community life (Standard 7) and clinical care (Standard 5).
  • Regulatory oversight will strengthen under new rules designed to boost transparency, accountability, and governance frameworks for providers such as Princes Court.

What Princes Court is doing now:

  • A comprehensive review of systems and processes across Princes Court Homes’ residential services and Princes Court at Home’s in home services, focusing on how we plan, deliver and evaluate care and services.
  • Development of evidence-based clinical protocols aligned to Standards 3 and 5, covering areas such as dementia and palliative care and support.
  • Staff training spanning governance, rights-based care, and cultural safety, in line with government guidelines.
  • Implementation of provider-level governance actions ahead of the new Provider Registration process, including revised oversight and accountability structures.

Why this matters:

These reforms respond to the findings of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. The new standards reflect a sector-wide shift toward greater consistency and dignity in the delivery of aged care, and we’re preparing now to uphold them locally within our services.
