At Princes Court, our team comes from all walks of life – but they share one thing in common: a passion for making a difference. Many of our team members didn’t start their careers in aged care, but they found their passion here. Whether transitioning from trade work, hospitality, administration, or another industry, they’ve discovered that making a difference in someone’s life is the most rewarding career move they’ve made.
With our latest recruitment drive underway, CEO Anthony Couroupis and our executive team share what makes Princes Court a supportive, purpose-driven place to build a career and be part of something meaningful and lasting.
A Workplace That Feels Like Home
“Aged care gives you the chance to really connect with people and have a lasting impact. The work our team does each day helps build strong relationships and improves quality of life in a meaningful way.”
– Anthony Couroupis, CEO
For over 65 years, Princes Court has been a trusted name in Mildura aged care, providing care that respects the dignity and individuality of every resident. Our team is made up of people from all walks of life – nurses, carers, hospitality, maintenance, housekeeping, administration professionals, and dedicated volunteers – including those who have transitioned from other careers to find purpose in their work.
Now, with a new strategic plan and leadership team, Princes Court is focused on enhancing workplace culture, investing in staff development, and ensuring our people feel valued and supported every step of the way.
A Strategy for Excellence
Princes Court’s Strategic Plan reinforces our commitment to excellence in care and lifestyle – not just for our Mildura aged care residents and clients, but for our team. The plan sets ambitious goals across four key areas: reputation, those we support, finances, and employees. For our staff, this means:
- Career Growth: A culture of continuous learning and pathways for upskilling
- Strong Leadership: Support from an executive team dedicated to high-quality care
- Innovation: Investment in new digital and operational systems to enhance efficiency
- Workplace Security: A focus on financial sustainability, ensuring job stability
“We’ve been making real changes behind the scenes – new systems, better tools – to make day-to-day work easier for our staff. It means less time on paperwork and more time doing what they came here to do: support residents.”
– Kevin O’Neill, Executive Manager Shared Services
As Chair Lyn Heaysman explains,
“This strategy builds on our heritage of care while preparing us to navigate the evolving aged care environment. It’s about ensuring we continue to provide the security, comfort, and peace of mind our residents and their families trust us for.”
The Heart of Aged Care: A Staff Perspective
One of the best ways to understand what it’s like to work at Princes Court is to hear from those who do.
Don Clayton, a night shift carer in Princes Court’s 100-bed residential Mildura aged care facility, didn’t always work in aged care. A qualified welder by trade, he changed careers over 30 years ago, drawn to a profession where he could make a real difference in people’s lives. After years in country hospitals, he found his true calling in aged care.
“In aged care, honestly, the best thing you can do is make them smile, give them a nice day” Don shared in a recent feature in Mildura Living Magazine.
Now, as part of the Princes Court team for over 8 years, he works through the night ensuring that residents feel safe, supported, and cared for, often in their most vulnerable moments. “In the middle of the night, there is only us. My job is to make their difficult moments less so, even if the only way I can do that is simply by being there.”
Stories like Don’s highlight the profound impact aged care workers and volunteers have – not just on residents, but on their own lives as well. For those seeking a career with greater meaning, aged care offers a unique opportunity – whether they’re transitioning from a different industry or looking for work that feels more personally rewarding.
“What I see every day is staff who genuinely care. It’s the little things they do – taking time to listen, sharing a laugh, helping someone feel comfortable – that make such a difference. That kind of care can’t be taught, but we’re lucky to have so many people who bring it naturally.”
– Sianne Nicholds, Executive Manager Residential Care
A Future Built on Leadership & Innovation
Princes Court’s Board of Directors is investing in the future of aged care, with recent appointments reinforcing its commitment to modernising systems, supporting staff development, and enhancing workplace culture.
- Troy Bailey (Health Service Management): Focused on integrating technology to improve care delivery and operational efficiency.
- Narelle Heard (Financial Strategy): Brings expertise in workforce development and financial sustainability.
As we grow, we’re blending tradition with innovation to create a workplace where our team and volunteers feel valued and inspired every day.
“We’re focused on making sure our team feels supported, and that starts with having the right foundations in place. Good financial planning helps us offer stability, growth, and the kind of workplace people want to be part of.”
– Rita Valentich, Finance Manager
