A highly-experienced administrator and Mildura community leader is bringing fresh, new ideas to Mildura’s Princes Court Homes and Village.
Former Mildura Development Corporation chief and Regional Development Victoria local manager Jenny Garonne has taken the reins at Princes Court and is excited by the opportunities ahead.
“It’s quite a change in direction for me, but as someone who values the importance of community I am loving the chance to make a contribution in a new way,” Ms Garonne said.
“I’ve been really motivated by the response from everyone I’ve spoken to about taking on the role – Princes Court and the care we provide here is so well-regarded and being part of our community here is such a fond part of our family stories.”
“Princes Court is an integral part of Mildura’s fabric and I’m excited by the opportunity to lead one of our community’s most trusted and important not-for-profit organisations.”
Ms Garonne is stepping into the role with plans underway for a major rejuvenation of Princes Court Homes, including work to link the complex more closely with its independent living units, Princes Court Village, developed as an adjunct to the homes 12 years ago.
“It’s a terrific time to step into this role because there are renovations underway and some major building projects still being developed, so it’s exciting to be shaping those and ensuring we get the best outcomes for residents now and in the future,” she said.
Ms Garonne brings strong management and leadership expertise from her most recent role as CEO for Mildura Development Corporation and a previous 17 years as Mildura’s Regional Development Victoria manager.
Princes Court chairman Doug Tonge said the board was also impressed by Ms Garonne’s long list of community involvements, including as a member of Rotary for more than 25 years, a Director of Zoe Support and through Northern Mallee Leaders.
“Jenny’s passion for community and enhancing people’s lives was something we were taken by and this role is a great opportunity for her to bring all of her skills together,” Mr Tonge said.
“Princes Court Homes has played a significant role in the Mildura community since it began as a logical extension of Mildura Base Hospital over 60 years ago and it’s now a safe and happy place for more than 100 residents.
“It’s really a little community within itself, with an amazing network of 120 dedicated staff, the support of dozens of volunteers and the strong involvement of residents’ families, and that is only going to grow into the future.
“We’re excited that Jenny’s focus is on building on that strong sense of community and extending the quality of care and lifestyle for our residents.
“We recognise that the needs of residents and families are changing, and we’re focused on looking forward to ensure Princes Court provides the right accommodation, infrastructure and environment needed to care for our elders in the future.”
