A New Chapter for Aged Care in Mildura

With over 60 years of service, Princes Court offers a range of care options, including independent living, residential and respite care, and in home services. As the aged care sector faces increased regulatory requirements and evolving community expectations, Princes Court is responding with bold plans for the future.

A $23.3 million building project, backed by an $11 million Federal Government grant, is at the forefront of these efforts. Currently in the design development phase, this expansion will enhance the quality and variety of care options available to residents, reflecting Princes Court’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the community.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to shape the future of aged care,” says Mrs Lyn Heaysman, Chair of the Board. “This project, along with our ongoing commitment to high standards of care, positions Princes Court as a leader in the sector.”

Board Opportunities Amidst Industry Change

As part of its future-focused approach, Princes Court is seeking new board directors to help guide the organisation through this period of transformation. The role of a board director at Princes Court involves setting strategic directions, overseeing quality care, and ensuring that the organisation meets its governance responsibilities.

The Board is looking for individuals with experience or interest in key areas such as healthcare delivery, asset management, and organisational culture. With significant changes in the aged care landscape, including new standards and delivery models, the Board’s work is more crucial than ever.

“The aged care sector is evolving rapidly, and it’s important that we have the right mix of skills and perspectives on our Board to navigate these changes,” Mrs Heaysman adds. “We’re looking for people who are not only skilled but also share our passion for making a positive impact in the lives of our residents and clients.”

Engaging the Community and Expanding Opportunities

Princes Court’s commitment to community is reflected in its values of respect, teamwork, compassion, quality, and accountability. With over 160 staff and a dedicated network of volunteers, the organisation continues to foster an environment where everyone feels content, safe, valued, and respected.

As part of their board roles, directors are expected to engage in committee work that supports strategic planning and operational oversight. This includes involvement in areas such as Clinical Governance, Planning and Building, and Finance and Audit. The Board meets monthly, with additional sessions scheduled as needed to address specific topics, ensuring that all decisions are well-informed and timely.

The organisation encourages ongoing education and professional development, recognising the need for board members to stay current with industry trends and best practices. Directors may also participate in interstate travel to visit other aged care services and attend key conferences, further enhancing their understanding and contributing to the board’s overall effectiveness.
