Aged care workers are the frontline staff who work around the clock to provide quality care to older residents and Australians at home.

If you are interested in becoming a Mildura aged care worker, you can take online or in-person Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses offered by SuniTAFE.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) or a similar qualification with a disability focus provides the fundamental knowledge and practical experience required to work in aged care.

If you complete either of the preceding courses, you will be eligible to pursue a Certificate IV in Aged Care or a Certificate IV in Disability, which will provide you with management skills, assist you in supporting other employees, and train you in providing an effective aged care environment.

These three certificates are available as an online course or on-campus at SuniTAFE.

A traineeship is another way to gain hands-on experience in an aged care setting. This will imply that you will ‘train on the job’ while also studying. After a year, you will have earned a Certificate III in Individual Support.

A variety of short courses are available to provide entry-level knowledge in age care. This includes a Statement of Attainment in Aged Care, an Introduction to Aged Care Statement of Attainment, an Introduction to Home and Community Care Statement of Attainment, and a SuniTAFE Statement in Mental Health Awareness for workers in residential aged care.
