Our Mildura Retirement Village

If the idea of retirement village living is new to you, here are some of the most asked questions around costs and fees. Additional details can be sought by contacting the Village Coordinator at 03 5022 1022

How does ownership work?

Units in our Mildura retirement village are leased under a ‘Lease for Life’ concept. Residents enter into a licence agreement with Princes Court Ltd. which grants you a right to occupy the unit for 49 years or earlier if you terminate the agreement, but you do not own the unit.

A capital sum is paid at the commencement of the lease, and you are later entitled to receive an amount back in line with the contract provisions. Such provisions include a monthly retention deduction which applies for a maximum of sixty months and a small capital contribution of 2.5% of the original capital sum on leaving the facility.
The initial arrangements for payment of the capital amount and contracts are managed by our leasing agent Collie & Tierney Real Estate. The balance of the deductions covered within the contract are managed by Princes Court Ltd.
Other than the lease, are there other fees & charges?

Yes, our Mildura aged care residents are responsible for the normal cost of living in and occupying a home, including municipal rates, electricity and gas consumption, telephone, contents insurance or any other fee for service you arrange for yourself such as Foxtel, Austar etc. Residents are not liable for the cost of water usage within their site.

There is also a daily maintenance fee which is paid monthly, in advance. This provides for an equal share of the cost of services such as use of all common areas, security patrols, building insurance, maintenance of common areas and the administration, maintenance, and management of our retirement village in Mildura.

Is there a waiting list to move into the Village?

Yes, there usually is a waiting list for properties in the Princes Court Mildura Retirement Village. The waiting list is maintained by our real estate agent Collie & Tierney.

It doesn’t cost anything to join the waiting list and our property managers will keep you informed of your progress and opportunity for gaining a property over time.
Is there anything else I need to know?

There are requirements to living in our Mildura retirement village, including that any residents, including their spouse or partner, must be 55 years of age or over, or retired from full time employment, and can meet the financial requirements of occupancy. Residents also need to be able to live independently and provide for their individual needs.

Our Residential Homes

If the idea of residential home living is new to you, here are some of the most asked questions around costs and fees. Additional details can be sought by contacting the Resident Liaison Officer through the Contact Us page.

How much does an aged care home cost?

Call our team on 03 5022 1022 to discuss the costs associated with moving to our Mildura retirement village. We can also help plan for when you or a loved one is ready to move at some point in the future.

Is there government funding available?

You may be entitled to some funding from the government to move into one of our Mildura aged care homes. The amount required to pay will be based on an assessment of your finances and your assets. Residential aged care in Mildura is available for all individuals no matter what your income. Information that will help you to determine this is available through government’s MyAgedCare (MAC) system.

Also a service that is now available locally through Services Australia is the Aged Care Specialist Officer and is part of the MyAgedCare face to face services. Jason Bell can be contacted on 03 50553 700 or 0460 035 366.

It can be a little confusing, so we are happy to talk you through any questions that you may have.
How does it all work?

The Australian Government’s My Aged Care works by looking at each person’s individual situation and assigning you funding for the support you need. You can then choose who you want providing those services for you.

If you meet the Australian Government’s eligibility criteria, you will be able to access a great variety of government funded aged care services – from basic in-home help right through to full-service aged care homes.

When you let My Aged Care  know that Princes Court is your preferred provider, they’ll direct your funding to us, so we can commence your services.
